renfrew pasteque

the winter day time weather has been amazing in sydney this year. today i took the opportunity to do a spot of multi-tasking - taking the boys to picnic lunch at the beach and grabbing a few pics of my new sewaholic renfrew.

i made view c with long sleeves in a size 10, which roughly matches my measurements.  i am generally happy with the fit overall, although i do get some pull lines around the neck and bust area.

the fabric is an incredibly soft french terry in watermelon pink, from joys fabric warehouse in geelong vic. i decided i must have some after seeing and reading about nearest the pin's coco.  renee mentioned how soft the fabric was and i loved the colour. so after finding out she purchased the fabric in geelong i got my lovely pregnant sister who lives in geelong to pop by, purchase some and post it to me.  then i got her to pop buy again, purchase some more and send it to me when i didn't have quite enough to make up the renfrew...thanks caz!

the fabric was fantastic to sew up.  i used my conventional sewing machine and left all seams except for the cuffs and waist band unfinished.  i used zig zag to finish the cuffs and band.

the inside looks really nice even though i didn't use an overlocker, owing to how well the fabric sewed up.

i used a twin needle around the neck and its some of the nicest twin needle stitching i have ever done, again thanks to how well the fabric sewed up.

i made this up for a quick trip we are taking the boys on in a few weeks for them to see snow for the first time - think it will come in very handy, particularly with a down vest over the top.

have a great weekend!
